Was analyzing server logs at work today on a few SLES 10.2 boxes. Noticed syslog-ng was filling up my logs with a stupid STATS message. Would much rather have clean log files instead of having the following repeated every hour.
syslog-ng[3219]: STATS: dropped 0
After a little bit of reading I can’t seem to find any reason this is here other than to create a mostly useless report in my server logs. At first I thought I would just increase the time on it but later decided to stop it all together by editing /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf. I changed stats(3600) to stats(0). It looks like this now and should stop generating the stats report and filling up the messages log file:
Flags half mast for 4 co-founders of The Pirate Bay. If you haven’t heard the news that they were sentenced to 1 year in jail and a fine of $3,600,000.
“To preserve [the] independence [of the people,] we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt. We must make our election between economy and liberty, or profusion and servitude. If we run into such debts as that we must be taxed in our meat and in our drink, in our necessaries and our comforts, in our labors and our amusements, for our callings and our creeds, as the people of England are, our people, like them, must come to labor sixteen hours in the twenty-four, give the earnings of fifteen of these to the government for their debts and daily expenses, and the sixteenth being insufficient to afford us bread, we must live, as they now do, on oatmeal and potatoes, have no time to think, no means of calling the mismanagers to account, but be glad to obtain subsistence by hiring ourselves to rivet their chains on the necks of our fellow-sufferers.” –Thomas Jefferson to Samuel Kercheval, 1816. Went to RuSan’s in Kennesaw last night for Asia’s birthday shin-dig. Good sushi, crazy company, and excellent drinks. Thanks to our bad ass waitress who rocked the Sake Bombs with us. We’ll be back.
So today I have decided to tackle a number of chores around the home. One of these chores would be to split some wood in the backyard. Since I don’t have an axe for splitting wood I figured I would perform a quick check and gather an idea on what it’ll run me before I head to Home Depot. I trot my web browser over to Home Depot’s site and type in what you assume would be a good keyword for an axe… “axe”. To my surprise they seem to have turned into a GameStop. Although I totally agree with the terminology, Home Depot seems to have missed the idea on providing items for home improvement.
Perhaps I should look at Game Stop for the Axe I need? They probably have them used anyways
For those of you that follow my site via RSS (I’m sure there is someone out there). You might have noticed that the RSS feed hasn’t been working since I performed the voodoo cleansing of my site. To circumvent the problem I decided to simply improve and switch to having feedburner.com handle my RSS feed. You can re-add my site via the RSS link on the top right or by clicking this handy dandy RSS link. Please let me know if you continue to see any problems.
In a place where fluorescent lighting and cubical walls reign supreme it seems that the little bit of hope is in the personal attire that can spice up a cubicle. Unfortunately I have very little of that personal touch. Thanks to a Christmas gift I received though it’s been bumped up a notch. The addition of the classic Megatron, and new version of Optimus Prime and Megatron can now accompany my awesome thinking helmet.
Has anyone else received any additions recently for their workspace?
So I’ve decided to start a section on here where I can keep a sort of photo diet diary thing. I’m hoping it’ll help me stay motivated to improve how I eat and live a healthier lifestyle. It still needs some work as does the rest of this site but I hope to have an automated feed of images from Flickr working in my “Diet” section soon.
In the mean time I need to add OpenID back this site so that any of you visitors will be able to sign in and leave me some love.
